It's a Dream Using Dream Lab

I am pleased to introduce to you Canva’s Dream Lab, and the joy of creating stunning AI-generated images. Whether you're looking to download, or weave them into your designs, the process is as simple as it is joyful. It's never been easier to let you run wild with your creativity

Where to find Dream Lab

1. From the homepage main menu, select Dream Lab.

2. In the text box, type a description of the image you want to create.

3. Select from the presets to set the style of your image. Options include Cinematic, Creative, Bokeh, Illustration, and there’s more.

4. Choose the dimensions for your image. You can select from popular aspect ratios like 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, and others to fit your specific needs.

5. Click Create and wait for your images to be processed. Your image will be displayed at the bottom of the page.

6. Scroll down to view the generated image. You can copy, download, or use it in a new Canva design by tapping Create a Design.

7. For additional options, click the ellipsis button on the results to edit, delete, or report it.

Styles to choose from in Dream Lab

Dream Lab is like your personal art studio, filled with a variety of styles just waiting for you to experiment with.

The images it generates for you will be in the JPG format.

Styles range from the dramatic flair of Cinematic and Concept, to the playful charm of Creative and Dynamic, and even the artistic strokes of Sketch - Color and Sketch - Black & White. I chose Bokeh for my Man in an Armchair, and 16:9 ratio.

Whether you're after the elegance of Fashion or the simplicity of Minimalist, Dream Lab has got your creative vision covered.

So go ahead, explore, and let your dreams come to life!

Are there any limitations in Dream Lab?

• Dream Lab speaks all the languages Canva knows, with the exception of canva.cn.

• You get 4 images to choose from each request.

• The more context you give, the better your result.

• There is an age restriction in place of 13 for your safety and privacy.

• Dream Lab is only available from the Home page in Canva.

What about copyright?

• With Canva, the images and videos you conjure up using our Dream Lab are yours to keep, provided you're playing by the rules outlined in Canva’s terms. AI is still a grey area, and rules differ from country to country.

• Remember, if you're using these apps to create familiar characters or brands, they might be protected by copyright or trademarks.

Great Value for Money

At the time of writing the Pro subscription for Canva is $14.99 (US) £13 (UK) monthly or $119.99 (US) £100 (UK) annually. This is an absolute steal for what you get. It’s worth it for the Dream Lab alone.

Among Canva’s many tools and apps there also another new feature, “Write my first Draft” using “Magic Write”^TM. I will be taking a deep look into this function over the next couple of weeks.
